Greetings, Introductions and Questions

We all know how important it is to make a good first impression when we meet someone for the first time. This first meeting will probably forever influence what the other person thinks of us, so its important to get it right. Today we'll be discussing how to say hello and introduce our self in ASL.

Signing and English is structured differently for example In English one would ask What is your name? while in ASL the question would be Your name What? It is incorrect to sign in ASL as though your speaking English by just substituting the words with signs. We'll be looking at a video that will show us step by step how to sign greetings and say our name.

Now that we know how to say hello and introduce our self we can move on to another Topic "Asking Questions". One of the Things I remember from Sesame Street is the importance of asking questions, they said it was the only way to find things out. We know that questions are a part of every conversation and if your a Trini they're really important. The next video focuses on signs that are used to ask questions.

Remember to pay close attention to the expressions in both videos, they are just as important as the signs. I hope you enjoy and learn from both.
